1,600 substances were tested
"Valuable scientific data was obtained and people who consume psychoactive substances were made aware of the dangerous ingredients," confirmed pharmaceutical chemist Martin Schmid, who explained that this could reduce drug abuse and crime.
Since August 2022, 1,640 substance tests have been carried out. "We want to reduce drug use in Styria, because it not only harms individuals, but our entire society. With drug checking, we can reduce both drug use and the associated crime, which is why we will continue this project," said Regional Health Councillor Karlheinz Kornhäusl (ÖVP).
