For over two decades, Prof. Bauer headed the Department of Pharmacognosy with great dedication, while Prof. Mayer shaped the Department of Pharmacology from the 1980s onwards. Both professors were extremely productive in their scientific research and highly respected internationally, and were always fully committed to teaching. This made them undisputed key figures in our institute. These "keys" have now been passed on to the next generation so that the Pharmaceutical Sciences can continue to make promising and successful progress in the future. And: many a student will continue to encounter Prof. Bauer and Prof. Mayer in one lecture or another in the future.
