Public lecture series 2025 - Hospice culture and palliative care
Hospice culture and palliative care – an existence worth living until the end
“It's not about giving more days to life, but more life to days” - a great sentence by Cicely Saunders. The doctor and founder of the hospice movement revolutionized the way we deal with dying and death. In 1967 she opened St. Christopher’s Hospice in London, which is still the model for all modern hospices today. For her, it was about caring, holistic support for the dying, personal appreciation, respect and self-determination right up to the end.
